Leap Day

Leap day is here! 2012 is a leap year, with an extra day. Last one was 2008, next one is 2012.

From Wikipedia:

February 29, also known as a leap day in the Gregorian calendar, is a date that occurs in most years that are evenly divisible by 4, such as 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. Years that are evenly divisible by 100, but not by 400, do not contain a leap day; thus 1900 did not contain a leap day while 2000 did. Years containing a leap day are called leap years. February 29 is the 60th day of the Gregorian calendar in such a year, with 306 days remaining until the end of the year.

My dad has me doing M100s (well, we can’t do 100 of them). Part of the exercise is a leap!

Quad 1 Test is here!

The endurance test, Quad 1, is here. I am mostly ready, but I guess I will not ever be totally ready! We have been running and exercising. Need to run more!

I am pretty good except the run. The hills are really hard to run on. I want to run on a flat track like at the high school, maybe then my time would be better!

Candy and eating right

Mr. Bartow says that we all eat way too much junk food, and to watch out for what you eat. Even stuff that might seem healthy sometimes is not healthy! Like Diet drinks, stuff like that.

Red dye is bad for you, and is in everything. There are many allergies that people have caused by red dye number 40. My family and I have to watch out for red dye. It’s in Starburst, fruit drinks, sodas, chocolate, flavorings, icing, Doritos, and even some medicine like cherry Pepto Bismol and cough syrup.

Imagine the other stuff in junk food that is no good for you! It’s in all the junk food in the photos. Valentine’s Day is not the best time to be sensitive to red dye #40!

Running and pushups!

The UBBT Quad 1 is where we do endurance testing like running, push ups, drills, sit-ups, and other exercises. I have been training for this. I think it’s the hardest test! I have been running with my parents and doing push ups and sit ups at home. I also like to do Yoga and working out with video and the Wii.

I know that exercising is very important for good health. I want to exercise all my life to stay in good health so I can do everything I want to do.

I’m not a fan of running so much but love to ride my bike. That can be hard, too!

Here is a kid’s exercise pyramid that I like to think about.
