Around the block in 7:13

My time with dad yesterday. Trying to get this better each time and hopefully under 6 minutes eventually. Around the block is .66 miles.

The Presidential Physical Fitness Performance Standards requirements for the half-mile race are in the table.

Running around the block

Running

I’ve begun to run around the block with mom and dad, a couple times each run. It’s 1. 3 miles. I will have to work that up to 2 miles over the next month. Running is tough but it seems to get  easier each time. I’ve got to get my 2 mile run under 20 minutes for the black belt certification. It’s one of the toughest things for me to do!

Reading 9 books in 12 months

Kids Books

Kids Books

The Official UBBT Handbook says that one of the requirements of getting my black belt is to read 9 books in 12 months. These are divided among 3 types of books:

1. 3 nonfiction

2. 3 fiction

3. 3 biography

I usually don’t read nonfiction or biography books, but I will have to start! Going to the library with Dad this week!

Training this week

Racing Dacshunds!

Mom and I are going to run around the block twice (1.3 miles) a couple times this week. Oh boy! Maybe Heidi will run with us! Will let you know how that goes… I like running with mom!

Welcome to Audrey’s Black Belt Blog!

Today I am starting a new blog site, about my journey through the UBBT — the ultimate black belt test. I am a taekwondo student, studying this ancient martial art from a studio in the Atlanta area. I am excited to be training! I took my first UBBT “quad” yesterday — Quad 4, which is sparring and grappling. It was very tough and I want to train hard for the upcoming quad – Quad 1 (conditioning). I will post at least once a week on this blog and talk about my journey to my black belt. Thank you for reading!
